A National Suicide Prevention Strategy for Canada

Suicide is a major public health issue affecting thousands of people across Canada.  Canada's suicide rate ranks in the top third of all countries and we are one of the few industrialized countries that has no national suicide prevention strategy.  This petition asks that the Government of Canada use the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention's "Blue Print for a National Suicide Prevention Strategy" to establish a national strategy.  Canada must join other countries who have their own national strategies such as the U.S., the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and other who have national strategies.  The Government of Canada must demonstrate its commitment to suicide prevention and take action towards establishing a national strategy for Canada.
